Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and maths or a Distinction for your BTEC Diploma (Level 2) Business.



Duration of this Course

This is a four term course.



Career Prospects

Many learners progress to our HND Business programme at the Yeovil College University Centre. Others choose an Apprenticeship, go directly into work or start their own business. Work experience is an essential part of the programme of study that allows you to be work ready and better prepared for employment.



How will I be assessed?

You will be observed in practice and provide work products and reflective accounts as evidence for your e-portfolio. The Functional Skills qualifications are assessed through Level 2 exams.



Course Content/Units

Mandatory Units

This course includes an NVQ qualification and a Technical Certificate.


Mandatory NVQ units include:
  • Manage own Performance in a Business Environment
  • Improve own Performance in a Business Environment
  • Work in a Business Environment
  • Communicate in a Business Environment

  • Mandatory Technical Certificate units include:
  • Principles of Personal Responsibilities and How to Develop and Evaluate own Performance at Work.
  • Principles of Working with and Supervising others in a Business Environment.
  • Principles of Providing and Maintaining Administrative Services
  • Principles of Managing Information and Producing Documents in a Business Environment

  • You must also gain two credits by completing modules on the following list:
  • Principles of Supporting Change in a Business Environment (1 credit)
  • Principles of Supporting Business Events (1 credit)
  • Principles of Maintaining Stationary Stock (1 credit)
  • Principles of Project Management (2 credits)
  • Principles of Budgets in a Business Environment (2 credits)
  • Principles of contributing to innovation and change (2 credits)

  • All apprentices must also complete a unit on Employment Rights and Responsibilities, delivered at the start of the course.
