Wood Occupations (Carpentry & Joinery) - (Intermediate Trainee/Advanced Trainee)

Introduction to this course

If you would like to be a Carpenter or Joiner, this study programme will help you to develop your knowledge and practical skills. As a trainee you will be introduced to practical hand skills and wood craft in preparation of Intermediate Trainee skills in areas including roofing, cut roofs, stud walls, windows and doors and stairs. As an Advanced Trainee, you will develop complex skills in areas including cut roofing, French doors, arched joinery and kite winder stairs as well as improving your practical hand skills further.

Entry Requirements

Intermediate Trainee - You will need four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including English and maths and a trainee qualification in Carpentry & Joinery.

Advanced Trainee - You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) including GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and maths and an Intermediate Trainee qualification in Carpentry & Joinery.

Career Prospects

You can progress to an advanced trainee programme or move to an Apprenticeship. With further qualifications, you will be ready to apply for a post as a Site Carpenter.
