This study programme is designed to provide basic training in construction skills for those who want to work in the industry. If you have no previous experience or knowledge of the construction craft skills but enjoy practical activities, this study programme could be for you.
You will gain practical experience in bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing and electrical to help you make informed choices about your future career path.

You will need four GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above, including English and maths. Work experience may also be taken into account.
This is a one year course, that is timetable to allow time for those taking the course to find work experience or a related part time job.
When you successfully gain your trainee qualification Certificate, you can apply for a wide range of trade specific trainee qualifications or an Apprenticeship in your chosen specialism.
This is a practical course, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills and to become proficient in using a range of tools. Assessment will be through pracrical tasks and a portfolio to support this work.
The course will cover a range of skills from basic carpentry and plumbing to brickwork, tiling and decorating.
Personal Protective Equipment and course materials - £75. In addition there may be small fees payable for visits to construction sites and relevant exhibitions.
