Engineering Craft - Level 2

Introduction to this course

Through this study programme, you will gain an understanding of the principles, methods and technology involved in a range of Engineering disciplines such as welding, fabrication, composite materials and machining. This makes it an excellent choice for people who want a career in this dynamic sector.

This programme is in the main practically based and includes hands-on training in our industry-standard workshops and theory sessions in the classrooms.

You need five GCSEs grade A*-D, including English and maths.

Career Prospects

When you successfully complete this programme, you can apply for the relevant Level 3 qualification or Advanced Apprenticeship in your chosen field of Engineering.

How will I be assessed?

The Extended Certificate is assessed primarily through a series of assignments that are complete during the year of the course. There are three external exams with a pass/fail outcome although these do not contribute to the overall grade.

Typically the course will cover areas such as: Mechanical Science, Electrical and Electronic Principals, Maths, Business Studies, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Design, Computer Aided Design, CNC Machining, Manufacturing Processes.

Protective clothing and materials – Approximately £75. You will also need to contribute towards trips and activities.
