A Level Art Design


Introduction to this course


This A Level covers areas of Fine Art such as drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture and explores the work of various artists, art movements and themes. Coursework encourages you to develop skills and understanding of visual language and associated practical skills. A Level Art & Design is made up of two units, one of which is a controlled assignment and encourages you to take increasing ownership of your own growth and development as an artist.


There are opportunities to visit national galleries and exhibitions such as Whitechapel, Saatchi and Tate Modern.

Entry Requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and maths and a grade B or above in GCSE Art or Art & Design.



Duration of this course

The A2 Level is a two year course. Enrolment is only in September.



Career Prospects

This A Level is good preparation for an Art Foundation study programme or other specific Higher Education qualifications at university, Yeovil College or the Yeovil College University Centre. You can also progress on to employment.

Through continuous assessment, assignments and examinations.

Materials - Approximately £30, dependent upon choice of project. Trips fund - £50.
