This industry-recognised qualification aims to give you the underpinning knowledge needed to work in the Sport industry. You will learn about fitness testing and training, practical sports and anatomy and physiology. Alongside this qualification, you may be able to complete National Governing Body awards and a First Aid certificate.
There is a water sports trip planned, plus a visit to the University of Bath. You will gain additional experience by volunteering at different sporting events and you will also have the opportunity to take part in a two week work placement.

Level 1, you need at least four GCSEs grade F or above including English and maths
Level 2, you need at least four GCSEs grade A*-D, including English and maths.
Upon successful completion you can progress to a related Level 3 Sport study programme, apply for a relevant Apprenticeship or seek employment in the Sport & Leisure industry working alongside sports coaches.
There is no final written examination as you achieve your qualification though continuous assessment. This involves carrying out assignments, project work, presentations, report writing, class tests and collecting video evidence. All assessments will be graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction. You will also be expected to do independent study at home towards your assessments.

There is an expectation that all learners will wear their kit when representing the college in fixtures (home and away) and when taking part in physical activity sessions (as a participant, official or coach). Second year learners do not need to purchase new kit.
