Travel & Tourism - Level 2

Introduction to this course

If you would like to begin developing the work related skills needed for a career in the Travel & Tourism industry, this qualification is for you.  This one year study programme gives you the opportunity to develop a fundamental understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to work in the sector including customer service and destinations, travel agency operations, cruise lines, the airline industry and working in the holiday field.

A variety of trips are arranged to supplement your learning and research into the industry and form an active part of the assessment. Previous destinations have included China and Morocco. Learners are also encouraged to undertake a work placement in a relevant industry.

Entry Requirements

You need four GCSEs at grade A* - D including maths with a minimum of C in English.

Career Prospects

Upon successful completion you can progress to a Level 3 Travel & Tourism study programme or apply for an Apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may choose to enter into employment within the industry.

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through coursework, graded on Pass, Merit and Distinction. There are approximately two to three pieces of work per unit.

Expenses for this course

Recommended trips - Approximately £150. There will be the opportunity to take part in a residential. Depending upon the destination, this may cost up to £1000.

There is an expectation that all learners will wear their kit when representing the college in fixtures (home and away) and when taking part in physical activity sessions (as a participant, official or coach). Second year learners do not need to purchase new kit.
