Travel & Tourism - Level 3

Introduction to this course

This two year study programme has been designed to help you improve your understanding and knowledge of Travel & Tourism industry operations ready for a career in the sector.  In particular, this study programme focuses on developing work-related skills and includes work experience in a relevant Travel & Tourism placement. This study programme covers a broad area of operations, including business units, customer services and destinations, as well as specific Travel & Tourism topics, such as travel agency operations, cruise work, the airline industry and working in the holiday field.

A variety of trips are arranged to supplement your learning and research into the industry and form an active part of the assessment. Previous destinations have included China and Morocco. Learners will undertake a relevant two week work placement during their study programme.

Entry Requirements

For the Level 3, you need five GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and maths.

Duration of this course

Expected Study Programme to be 2 Years, although 1 Year is negotiable.

Career Prospects

Upon completion of this qualification, you can either apply for employment across the breadth of the Travel & Tourism industry or continue your training with a degree level qualification. There are many diverse and exciting opportunities for people with Travel & Tourism training, including those in cabin crew, travel agencies, the hospitality industry, events, conference organising, the cruise industry, tour operations, visitor attractions and holiday representation.

How will I be assessed?

Your assessment is all coursework based and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. There will be approximately two to three pieces of coursework per unit.

There is an expectation that all learners will wear their kit when representing the college in fixtures (home and away) and when taking part in physical activity sessions (as a participant, official or coach). Second year learners do not need to purchase new kit.
