NEW for this academic year, Yeovil College are inviting students to apply to and benefit from a £500 scholarship. This unique fund has been designed to support talented sports performers and gifted and talented academic achievers from the first day they arrive at College.

There are 8 scholarships on offer to students applying for full-time courses starting in September 2017.

Students will put themselves forward for a scholarship of £500 to help with their studies. Successful students will be chosen by a panel of independent staff and College Governors. The criteria for application will be based on applicants gaining the highest achievement for their chosen area, plus a 250 word application.

The College has a strong record in academic achievement and has successfully stretched and challenged gifted students so that they achieve challenging academic targets and progressing to a successful future.

Yeovil College has a long tradition of nurturing sports students and many have gone on to compete at regional, national and international level. Former Yeovil College students have taken part in the Olympics and been selected for a number of prestigious sports teams.

Scholarships are often used to help students buy specialist equipment and other resources for their particular course or subject, such as computers and tool kits. The Governors of Yeovil College were keen to introduce the student scholarship to help the high performing students get the very best start at Yeovil College.

Applicants for the academic scholarship need at least five GCSEs at grade A or above, including English and Maths, while sports applicants need to demonstrate sporting performance at county, regional or national level.

Yeovil College Principal, John Evans, said “We’re delighted to introduce these two new categories of scholarship, which we hope will help support and encourage talented young people studying at Yeovil College. These new scholarships mean that even more students can fulfil their potential and get the best possible start in their careers.”
