Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies Level 3


Introduction to this course

This qualification is based on National Occupation Standards for Beauty Therapy and is designed for students who wish to advance within the profession or have ambitions to manage or own a salon. During this course, you will build upon the skills gained at Level 2. In addition, you will learn a range of advanced treatment techniques, including electrical face and body treatments, electrolysis, body massage, eyelash extensions and intimate waxing. You will also complete additional training in specialist treatments, including Environ skincare, Sono-phoresis, Jane Iredale make up, Sienna X Tanning and Gellish nails. Entry Requirements

You must have successfully completed the NVQ Diploma (Level 2) Beauty Therapy or equivalent qualification to join this course.


Duration of this Course

This is a one year course (36 weeks). 2017/18 classes are every Tuesday from 9am to 6pm starting from 19/09/2017.


Career Prospects

When you successfully complete this Level 3 course, you will have the necessary understanding and skills to undertake a Senior Beauty Therapist or Salon Manager role or to work as a self-employed Beauty Therapist. You might like to consider positions such as Nail Technician, Trainer or TV Make Up Artist or sectors including the cosmetics industry, sales or cruise liners. If you want to develop your skills further, you can apply for additional specialist vocational qualifications Level 3 or Level 4.


This course prepares you for a career as a Senior Beauty Therapist or Salon Manager or for work as a self-employed Beauty Therapist. If you would like develop your managerial or Business skills or to own your own salon or business, you can apply for Management or Business training courses, such as the Diploma (Level 4) Salon Management.


How will I be Assessed?

Your progress will be assessed through work packs, online tests, a portfolio of evidence and observed open salon treatments.


Course contents/units

You will complete eight compulsory modules:

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • Provide body electrical treatments
  • Provide facial electrical treatments
  • Provide body massage treatments
  • Provide electrical epilation treatments
  • Provide Indian head massage
