Introduction to this course

Designed to develop key academic knowledge and understanding of key business concepts through case studies, group work and business projects. Throughout the course, students gain specialist knowledge and understanding developed through close interaction with experienced tutors and key inputs from business professionals

The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business is suitable for people currently or hoping to work in various sectors in a business or management roles and want to consolidate or improve their experience, skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Level 3 or similar qualification in Business, combined with a good level of education and work, life and business skills.

Career Prospects

Following the HND, you can take a related ‘top up’ degree course at university to give you a full Honours degree. The majority of students currently studying these qualifications are already employed, although it is open to full time students as well. Most students remain with their current employer and some have used it as a stepping stone to support promotion within their companies.

How will I be assessed?

All units are internally assessed through a series of assignments developed to allow you to meet the criteria set by Pearson/Edexcel, the awarding body. The Pass criteria set the skills you must have for each unit and the Merit and Distinction criteria allow you to show higher level skills such as applying appropriate strategies for solutions and critical evaluation.

  • Managing Financial Resources and Decisions
  • Organisations and Principles
  • Marketing Principles
  • Business Strategy
  • Research Project
  • In the second year, you will be able to develop a project using your own individual expertise and the skills you have gained during the course.

    Course Fee (2017/18):

    £5,600 per year (Full Time); £3,750 per year (Part-Time)

    This is a minimum course cost. Please note that fees vary depending upon your personal circumstances and government funding. Additional membership and exam fees may also apply.
