Diploma in Barbering (NVQ) Level 2


Introduction to this course

This qualification is designed for people who are looking for a specialist training route into the Barbering industry. Areas covered include cutting hair and facial hair, shampooing and conditioning and creating patterns in the hair.

Entry Requirements

You need basic Maths, English and ICT qualifications. A Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing is desirable.



Duration of this Course

This is a one year course.


2017/18 classes are every Monday from 5pm to 9:30pm starting from 18/09/2016.



Career Prospects

If you successfully complete this course, you may like to develop your skills further with the Diploma (Level 3) Barbering.


This course is for people who want to provide professional Barbering services in a salon setting. Once qualified at Level 3, you may like to train for a more senior, managerial position or running your own salon with Business or Management qualifications.



Course contents/units

You need to complete five mandatory units to gain this qualification:


  • Health and safety
  • Cut hair using barbering techniques
  • Cut facial hair
  • Dry and finish men’s hair
  • Shampoo and condition
  • Advise and consult

  • There are also two optional units:


  • Change men’s hair colour
  • Create patterns in the hair
