Diploma in Hairdressing (NVQ) Level 3


Introduction to this course

If you have already achieved a Level 2 Hairdressing qualification or have worked in industry, then this course is for you. It has been designed to help you build on your skills and take them to an advanced level. Once you have successfully achieved this qualification, you will be ready for a supervisory role.

Entry Requirements

You need a Level 2 Hairdressing qualification. A Level 2 Barbering qualification is also desirable.



Duration of this Course

This is a one year course.

2017/18 classes are either:


Wednesday from 10am to 5:30pm starting from 20/09/2017.


OR


Tuesday and Thursdays from 4pm to 9pm starting from 19/09/2017.



Career Prospects

Following successful completion of this course, you can apply for management or supervisory roles in the Hairdressing Industry. If you are interested in developing your business skills, you can apply for a Level 4 Business Management course, such as that available at the University Centre Yeovil, or the Diploma (Level 4) Salon Management.


This course prepares you for a Senior Stylist role. If you would like to progress to a supervisory or management position or to run your own business or salon, you can take further, higher level training course in Management or Business, such as the Diploma (Level 4) Salon Management.



How will I be Assessed?

You will be assessed through practical assessments, a written portfolio of evidence and online exams at the end of each unit.



Course contents/units

You must complete three units:


  • Promote products and services
  • Monitor health and safety
  • Creatively cut hair

  • To gain the quailfication, you need to complete at least four additional units:


  • Colour hair using a variety of techniques
  • Provide colour correction services
  • Creatively style and dress hair
  • Develop and enhance creative
  • Hairdressing skills
  • Create varied permed effects
  • Provide creative hair extension services
  • Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • Support Customer Service Improvements
