Yeovil College really is a great place to work, but don't take our word for it, this is what our staff think...

"Having taken my A-Levels at Yeovil College in 2000, I returned as an employee in 2012 joining the Exams office as an Assessments and Achievements Administrator. Following a degree in finance and a spell working as an accountant, I choose to change career path and decided to begin the journey to becoming an English lecturer.

In 2013 I was released from work on a career progression programme which allowed me to study towards my teaching qualification at the University Centre Yeovil (part of Yeovil College). This entailed me attending classes for half a day a week over a two year period, in conjunction with completing teaching practice, which I also undertook at the college, teaching on the evening GCSE Maths programme.

In anticipation of the formation of the new English and Maths department, I briefly took on the role of English and Maths department Curriculum Area Administrator, before completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Post-Compulsory Education and Training and being employed as a full time English Lecturer with the college. This is the role that I currently occupy, teaching both Functional Skills and GCSE English.
The opportunities I have had whilst working at the college have allowed me to swiftly progress to my current lecturer role and the support I have received from colleagues has enabled me to manage the work/study balance whilst studying towards my teaching qualification. I have found Yeovil College to be an excellent place to work. In addition to the variety of job roles available, the college offers a variety of benefits, including the provision of regular team building activities and events provided by the Staff Association, an onsite restaurant, hair salon and gym.

From my time as a student to my current teaching role Yeovil College has been a consistent source of opportunity for me, providing me with the facilities and support I need to reach my potential and work within the organisation and with the people who have enabled me to realise my ambitions."

"During my time at Yeovil College I have progressed from being a student to a member of staff and I am now managing and teaching the course I completed myself. My tutors are now my colleagues, and I feel that I have developed a great relationship with the College through my own personal investment and the investment made by the Yeovil College. The staff room has a good atmosphere, help is always at hand and the support you get from across the College is fantastic. It has been a steep learning curve, as I have done my training here but I wouldn’t have wanted to do it anywhere else, and I look forward to staying here for as long as I can within my teaching career."
