Future Students urged to Secure Their College Place Before Christmas at November Open Event
Prospective students and their families are being encouraged to take the next step towards their future by attending Yeovil College November Open Event on Thursday 26 November 2026, from 5.00pm to 7.30pm. The event offers a valuable opportunity to explore courses, meet expert tutors and secure a place for September 2027 before the Christmas break.
With demand for places continuing to grow across a number of curriculum areas, the college is advising students to make early applications and secure their preferred study programme ahead of the festive period. By applying before Christmas, students can begin the new year with confidence, knowing their next steps are in place and allowing them to focus fully on their January mock examinations and upcoming GCSEs.
The Open Event arrives at a pivotal moment in the history of Yeovil College, as the institution continues to deliver its ambitious £60+ million Big Build campus transformation, contributing to more than £100 million of investment in education, skills and facilities over the last five years.
Students considering their options for September 2027 will become the first generation to study on Yeovil College’s fully transformed campus, benefiting from some of the most modern learning environments in the region. At the heart of the development is the flagship Wessex Building, a landmark facility that will bring together industry-standard teaching spaces, vibrant social environments, commercial cafés and a wide range of curriculum areas including Business, IT, Automotive, Hospitality, Hair & Beauty and Higher Education provision.
The transformation is already taking shape, with visitors able to experience the college’s newest facilities, including the recently opened Institute of Sport and Construction Innovation Centre, both designed to provide students with real-world learning opportunities and direct links to industry.
Further reinforcing its position as a leading education provider, Yeovil College has also recently been awarded Defence Technical Education College (DTEC) status, making it one of only a small number of colleges nationally to receive the prestigious designation. The recognition reflects the college’s commitment to delivering the technical skills and specialist training needed by employers both regionally and nationally.
Visitors to the November Open Event will have the opportunity to:
- Explore A Levels, T Levels, V Levels, Vocational Qualifications and Apprenticeships.
- Meet expert tutors and discuss future career aspirations.
- Tour industry-leading facilities and learn more about the campus transformation.
- Discover the financial, wellbeing and academic support available.
- Speak with current students and specialist support teams.
- Apply on the evening and secure their place for September 2027.
For many families, the November Open Event represents the ideal time to make an informed decision about post-16 education before the pressures of exam season begin. Securing a place before Christmas can provide peace of mind, allowing students to concentrate on achieving the best possible grades while looking forward to joining one of the most exciting educational developments in the country.
As work continues across the campus, this year’s applicants have a unique opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation transformation and become the first students to benefit from a completely reimagined college experience.
Prospective students and their families can pre-register by visiting or simply attend on the evening.
