Yeovil College Principal Named Among UK’s Manufacturing Leaders

Yeovil College CEO & Principal, Mark Bolton, has been named as one of the prestigious Make UK 130 Honours, recognising individuals making an outstanding contribution to the future of UK manufacturing.

The accolade forms part of Make UK’s 130th anniversary celebrations and recognises 130 people from across the country whose leadership, innovation and influence are helping to shape the future of British industry.

Mark was personally selected for the honour in recognition of his commitment to strengthening links between education and industry, championing skills development and helping create a pipeline of talent for the UK’s manufacturing and engineering sectors.

The Make UK 130 Honours span a diverse range of sectors, regions and roles, celebrating individuals from businesses of all sizes, as well as those supporting the wider manufacturing ecosystem. The full list of hours was announced on National Manufacturing Day on 24 September.

Under Mark’s leadership, Yeovil College has become a key partner to employers across Somerset and beyond, working closely with industry leaders to develop future skills, support innovation and ensure learners are equipped for careers in high-growth sectors including engineering, advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defence.

Speaking about the recognition, Mark said:

“What excites me most about the future of the industry is the positive impact we can have on ambition, aspiration and long-term career opportunities in our local community and wider UK economy. With our strong foundation in high-tech, advanced manufacturing, especially within the defence sector, there is a huge opportunity to help local businesses evolve, innovate and seize global opportunities. The collaboration we are seeing between industry, education and stakeholders is accelerating progress, and that momentum gives me real optimism for the future and the opportunities it will create for young people.”

Mark Bolton, CEO & Principal of Yeovil College, added:

“I am incredibly honoured to be included within the Make UK 130 Honours. This recognition reflects not only my own work, but the dedication of colleagues, industry partners and stakeholders who are committed to creating exceptional opportunities for young people and supporting the future success of UK manufacturing.”

As Yeovil College continues to invest in facilities, partnerships and career-focused education, the College remains committed to supporting the skills agenda and helping meet the workforce needs of some of the country’s most innovative industries.
